Underage Gambling has become the Latest Issue with Minors.
With all the winter, spring and summer breaks, its no reason why underage gambling is growing on the internet and doesn’t seem to be stopping.
Studies show that there will be an increase in gambling addiction with minors. Gambling, especially poker is growing among minors. Physiatrists and experts say that because of the popular craze with televised poker games like the celebrity poker games, World Series poker games and the online casinos. Most people know that gambling can lead to an addiction. According to experts, it is inevitable that more and more kids will become addicted to gambling. Since kids have a difficult time controlling themselves, it is said that kids are more likely to get addicted than adults. Fifteen percent of kids and teens that gamble will become addicted to gambling. According to research, an addiction to gambling isn’t just a problem but it’s a disease that may be biological and genetic.
Yale University performed a research on the subject in 2004 and discovered that young gamblers were usually connected to depression, drug and alcohol use then non gamblers. In addition, they discovered that adolescent gambling addicts were dealing with psychiatric problems.
There is no current statistic to the number of minors gambling in the United States but the numbers are rapidly rising. With high school poker parties becoming popular in the after school activities it may be hard to stop this up and coming serious issue.
