Snooker Star Plays Poker and Wins

A famous snooker player wins a side competition at the Irish Poker Championship.

These years Irish Poker Championship featured a number of celebrities, including comedian Tommy Tieran and famous snooker players Steve Davis, Ken Doherty and Alex Higgins.

Higgins and Tierman were knocked out at an early stage on Friday, but Davis and Doherty kept on. Doherty lost late on Saturday night almost reaching the final table.

Steve Davis did reach it, and after 16-hour play that finished at 7am, won the title of the stage winner. Three last players with Steve Davis among them decided to share the prize and each one of them took home %u20AC13,500.

Steve Davis was one 398 people who participated in the event held in Citywest, Dublin, and organized by Boylepoker.com.

The entire competition involved over 3 thousand participants from all over the country and distributed over 800 thousand dollars in prizes. The overall winner of the competition, Kieran Walsh, a UCC student from Cork, took home %u20AC150,000, and the %u20AC70,000 second prize went to Damian Kavanagh, a player from Dublin.

Boylepoker.com spokesman Paul Magee said that the competition was a total success. In his opinion, it was a fantastic weekend of top quality poker played by the best players in Ireland and in the world.
