Once again bingo events are held to help charity purposes. Following the example of many students organizations, sports teams, or music bands in the United States, the Kingston Lions Club has organized a bingo party to raise funds to help handicapped students of the University of West Indies. Taking into account the popularity of bingo in Jamaica, organizers have no doubt about the success of this event, which will take place on the 20th of January.
The purpose of this bingo party is to help fund a high-tech center in the Mona Campus, at the University of the West Indies. This resource center serves for visually or hearing impaired students. Organizers hope to collect over 30 million dollars in order to equip the center with several technical devices for physically-impaired students, computer programs for Braille, classrooms, library facilities, etc.
