The Suncoast gambling machine was examined by the KwaZulu-Natal Gambling Board and was found to have malfunctioned.
The KwaZulu-Natal Gambling Board checked the Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World gambling machine that recorded a R42.9 million winning and confirmed it was an error. It means that the winner, Jayshree Asalan, a Chatsworth attorney will not be paid out.
Asalan said she plans to sue the casino for not paying her the money she believed she had won. She said the matter caused her grief and anguish. She intends to take the case even to the High Court.
Ken Ladbrooke, the acting chief executive of the gambling board said that without a doubt an error in the gambling machine caused the misunderstanding. The machine was checked by investigators on Wednesday who found it to have malfunctioned.
