The betting company Coral has released the current odds for bets on who will play in the Englands national team in the 2006 World Cup in Germany. In all, 50 players chances have been priced up to be among the 23 men Sven-Goran Eriksson will take with him to Germany.
26 players have received an odds-on quote, while the rest has been given odds-against. The latter seem to have much less chances to go to Germany.
The odds-agaisnt are as follows:
- Paul Konchesky (West Ham): 3-1 (his chances to play in the World Cup depend on the physical condition of Wayne Bridge and Ashley Cole. However, he has been summoned for next match against Argentina, which did not happen with other players that received odds-against.
- Kieran Richardson: 2-1 (bettors think he will be included in the under-21 team against France since he can play both on the left-wing and at left-back).
- Darrent Bent: 6-4 (also to be included in the under-21 squad against France).
The odds-on quote are the following:
- Owen Hargreaves: 11-10.
- Kieron Dyer: 7-4.
- Jonathan Woodgate: 5-2.
- Darius Vassell: 5-1.
- Kevin Nolan: 6-1.
Two legendary players who are still playing the Premiership have also been given odds:
- Andy Cole: 10-1.
- Teddy Sheringham: 12-1.
