The paddypowerpoker.com Irish Poker Open is planned to be the biggest poker tournament in Irish history. The champion of the main event will go home with 1 Million sterling pounds.
The paddypowerpoker.com Irish Poker Open will be held during Easter weekend. Around 350 poker professional players from around the world will participate in the tournament. The event will be broadcast on Sky Sports 2 at 9.30pm on Monday 17 April across Europe.
It is the first time that an Irish poker tournament will be broadcast on TV. Six poker players will take part in the tournament main event that will be filmed in a secret location in Dublin. The first prize is 1 million sterling pounds.
Poker is one of the most watched sports events in cable TV sport in North America as well as in Europe. More than 10,000 poker players have participated in satellite tournaments to win a seat at the Irish Open.
