Legaligity of Slot Machines:
American slots of public and private availability are highly regulated by state government in the entire territory of the United States. Nevada is the only American state that allows slot machines of almost all existing types anywhere and for any use. Other states have strict rules of using slots. In New Jersey, for example,
slot machines can only be installed in licensed casinos operated in Atlantic City. Other states, such as Missouri, Illinois, Mississippi, Indiana, Louisiana and Iowa allow slot machines and other casino gambling activities only on specially licensed riverboats or permanent barges. Although most Indian reservations have an autonomic status,
casinos located at their territories can not have true slot machines unless it is allowed in the state the reservation is located in.
Some states restrict the use of slot machines to certain types. Most commonly these states allow use of Type II machines and prohibit Class III and other types. Type II machines usually are not slots in the full sense. These machines are often called video lottery or bingo machines. Type II machines usually form a network, where the winning combination is generated by the server and then is sent to each separate machine. Class III machines, on the contrary, work independently. Their outcome is generated randomly in the machine itself without being correlated with other devices and previous games. The most common example of Class III machines is Vegas-style slots. Only Nevada and a few more states allow Class III machines.
Many American slots casinos offer free membership in Slot Clubs. Joining such club, a player receives a special Slot Club magnetic card, which can be inserted into a slot machine instead of money. With the help of this card, the casino tracks the activity of the player and rewards him from time to time with free food, drinks or discounts for hotel rooms or other merchandise. Sometimes the casinos can even reward a player with cash, but normally this cash can only be used to play slots. It is possible that casinos use this system for their statistical analysis, but they have a privacy policy and will never expose any private information, so the player can only benefit from the slot club membership.
